Dear Soup Dragon

Welcome to Alan & Jackie’s motorhome blog.

We have been motorhoming in ‘GerTee’ our Burstner Ixeo motorhome since 2016, travelling mainly around Europe, predominantly in France and Spain. We both enjoy visiting new places, both smaller towns and villages as well as (occasionally) bigger cities. Trying to shop locally we enjoy the changing food experience as we move around different parts of Europe; and of course, sampling the local varieties of wine and beer.

One of the best aspects of motorhoming is that you get to meet loads of friendly and interesting people who you can share your stories with and listen to their (sometimes) tales of woe. It’s all a learning experience. Quite often, tales of their adventures will send you off in a completely different direction to the one you had (vaguely) planned.

Our blogs name of ‘Dear Soup Dragon’ was inspired by our van mascot (a Clanger) who likes nothing more than a glass of cheap fizz with a dash of crème de cassis (we’re partial to the odd glass as well!). Mr Clang as he is now known has been joined by ‘Tiny’ and the ‘Major’ and they now form the motorhome management team.

If you motorhome already, or are just interested in motorhoming life we would highly recommend that you join the ‘Funsters’ over at https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/portal/ and especially the forums which can be found here https://www.motorhomefun.co.uk/forum/

If like us you like to spend as much time in Europe as possible (which post Brexit has become a bit more problematic) there is a useful Schengen days calculator here https://ninety180.com/ which can help stop you overstaying your 90 days.
